Central Highlands Regional Council welcomed Mr Graham Webb of Reinforcements Management Consulting as the new chair of its audit committee.
CEO Scott Mason said the council made special mention of the outgoing chair Mr Hayden Wright who has served the organisation with dedication for seven years.
‘The audit committee is a very important function of council’s administration,’ Mr Mason explained.
‘Its purpose is to assist council to fulfil its responsibilities relating to accounting and reporting requirements imposed under the Local Government Act and other legislation.
‘The committee operates under a charter and consists of two councillors and two independent members external to council. It meets at least twice each financial year to oversee financial reports, corporate policies, risk and other public accountability matters.
‘Mr Webb brings to the committee more than 35 years’ experience in local and state government. He is an experienced CEO, administrator and local government advisor who is skilled in leadership, strategy, public policy, and change management,’ he said.
The appointment is for a three-year term and the audit committee meets next in February 2019.
