George and Howick Street Roundabout Reconstruction

The upgrade of the George and Howick Street roundabout has commenced. This project will significantly improve safety and enable smoother flow of traffic at the intersection. For regular project updates visit https://yoursay.bathurst.nsw.gov.au

Australia Day

Friday 25 January

The Citizenship & Awards Ceremony will be held at the Bathurst Memorial Entertainment

Centre where the community will come together to celebrate our new citizens and

recognise notable achievements in our local community. Doors open at 5.30 pm with the ceremony commencing at 6.00 pm. Entry is free and the whole community is invited.

Saturday 26 January

Celebrations continue with a barbecue breakfast, official ceremony and free kids’ activities at the Eglinton War Memorial Hall from 8.00am. Entry is free and everybody is welcome. After breakfast cool off at the pool with free entry to the Aquatic Centre from 11.00am.

Museum Selfie Day

Council's museums will be open to the public for free on International Museum Selfie Day on 16 January.

Participating venues include Chifley Home, National Motor Racing Museum, Australian Fossil and Mineral Museum, Bathurst Regional Art Gallery, and the Bathurst District Historical Society Museum. Visit a venue, take a selfie and upload to Facebook or Instagram with the #MuseumSelfieBathurst for a chance to win a $100 Buy Local Gift Card.

Sustainable Living Expo

The Bathurst Sustainable Living Expo will be held on Saturday 23 March at the Bathurst Showgrounds. Businesses with sustainable products and services are invited to exhibit. Contact Council on 6333 6511 for more information.

A community JP desk is available at Bathurst City Centre every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday (excluding public holidays). The free service is provided by the NSW Justices Association Inc Bathurst Support Group.

Bathurst NRL tickets on sale

Tickets are now on sale for the round three NRL clash between Penrith Panthers and Melbourne Storm at Carrington Park on Saturday, 30 March. Early bird prices are available until 7 January. To purchase tickets or for more information visit bathurstnrl.com.au

CCTV Funding Program

Round two of the CCTV Funding Program is now open for applications. Funding is available to assist local businesses improve security and community safety. Businesses in the Bathurst Region may apply for a maximum of $500 on a dollar for dollar basis. Projects must be completed within the 2018/2019 financial year.

Summer Reading Program

The Summer Reading Program is for children aged 0-17yrs and will run until 31 January 2019.

Register with the library then borrow, read and record books that have been read in the logbooks and hand them back in. Register online to learn about more activities at summerreadingclub.org.au

Event of the Year

Local organisations are encouraged to nominate for the Bathurst region Community Event of the Year Award and Bathurst Region Destination Event of the Year Award for events that were staged in 2018. For more information or to nominate visit www.bathurst.nsw.gov.au Nominations close 11 January 2019.

Bathurst Skate Park Extension

Council has commissioned Convic Pty Ltd to design an extension to the Bathurst Skate Park that will cater to all skill levels including beginners. A draft concept design has been developed and Council is now seeking feedback on this design until 11 January 2019.

Centennial Park Landscape Plan

Council is seeking feedback on the Centennial Park concept landscape plan that has been developed after extensive community consultation. The landscape plan developed by dsb Landscape Architects reflects the community’s views to keep Centennial Park green, open and useful. Feedback on the concept plan will accepted until 11 January 2019.

Alec Lamberton Park Consultation

Council is seeking community feedback to inform the Alec Lamberton Park master plan. Following previous community consultation, Council has decided to retain Alec Lamberton Park as open space used for community recreational activities.
