Autumn Centre Reaches Record Membership
City of Rockingham 4 Jan 2019

The Autumn Centre offers an active and social environment for people over the age of 50 to pursue personal interests and create support networks. It is also open to people with disability over the age of 18 accompanied by a carer.

The new milestone, which broke the previous membership record set in 2015/2016, occurred when Rockingham resident Audrey Hancock made the choice to join the Autumn Centre’s membership ranks.

Having lived in Rockingham for 37 years, Mrs Hancock decided to join the centre to get involved in carpet bowls having previously been a lawn bowler. Mrs Hancock also plans to use the Autumn Centre’s library, hairdressing and massage services.

City of Rockingham Mayor Barry Sammels congratulated Mrs Hancock on becoming the record-breaking member at the Autumn Centre.

"The Autumn Centre is an important community asset that gives the City’s senior residents a chance to take part in a number of fantastic programs and services," Mayor Sammels said.

"The facility continues to experience terrific membership growth and I congratulate Mrs Hancock on becoming the record breaking member.

"The Autumn Centre has been a part of our community for over 25 years and it is a testament to the members who make it such a great place to visit, as well as the hard working City staff that consistently strive to provide an engaging and welcoming environment."

The centre presents a comprehensive range of activities and events year round, including dance and fitness classes, arts and crafts, games and support groups, excursions, and services including podiatry and hairdressing.

The Autumn Centre is located on McNicholl Street in Rockingham and is open Monday to Friday from 7.15am–4.30pm.
