The plant was found by the City of Ballarat's Parks and Gardens team while undertaking a floral survey of the Victoria Park Grasslands. It has since been logged on the endangered species register.
Management of the Indigenous grasslands habitat is vital for the protection of Dianella amoena and the many other Indigenous plants found in Victoria Park. The City of Ballarat has an active Vegetation Management Plan in place for Victoria Park and we work in partnership with DELWP to manage these grasslands through targeted weed control, elimination of mowing to allow seed set and dispersal, and periodic burning to reduce exotic weed competition and surrounding biomass.
