Ballarat CBD motorists are reminded that changed traffic conditions will come into effect with the start of construction at the GovHub site tomorrow (Wednesday 9/1)
The north-bound lane of Armstrong Street North, between Mair Street and Market Street will be closed to traffic from Wednesday morning and throughout the GovHub construction project.
The state government has published extensive information for the community about changes to traffic conditions in the Ballarat CBD as a result of the Ballarat GovHub, Mair Street and Ballarat Station Precinct redevelopments. You can view this online at rdv.vic.gov.au
Parking will also be reduced at the Ballarat Library, however short-term parking will remain available in Doveton, Armstrong and Mair Streets.
Works are also underway on the new 300-space carpark on Creswick Road, next to Officeworks, which is due to open in mid-February.
The Ballarat Central (Doveton Street) library will remain open as usual, but regular programs will move to other library sites at Wendouree and Sebastopol.
For updates on changes to program locations, library users can visit the libraries website: centralhighlandslibraries.org.au or follow Ballarat libraries on Facebook and Instagram.
Ballarat Mayor Samantha McIntosh said the short-term disruption would have long term benefits for Ballarat.
“Inevitably, big construction projects have an impact on regular road users and we thank motorists and library users for their patience during this time.
“We also know that the long-term pay-off for our city from GovHub will be immense, and this and other CBD construction projects show that confidence in the Ballarat economy is strong
“This major investment will generate jobs growth and joins a long list of projects set to advance our city's prosperity.”
