Cessnock City Council is asking the community for feedback on proposed locations for the installation of banner poles in Weston, Greta and Wollombi.
Council received $19,046 in grant funding from the Department of Veteran Affairs to install new banner poles in the Cessnock Local Government Area. The poles will be used to display Armistice Day banners for years to come and other banners that mark important occasions including ANZAC Day. Council will also utilise these poles to hang banners that promote community events such as Seniors Festival and NAIDOC Week.
The poles will also be available to hire for community groups. Currently the community can apply to utilise the poles located on Vincent Street, Cessnock and Victoria Street, Kurri Kurri. To view the application for these poles visit www.cessnock.nsw.gov.au/community/business/bannerpoles.
The proposed locations for the installation of new banner poles includes the following:
1. Two at Maybury Peace Park, Weston
2. Two at New England Highway, Greta
3. Two at Wollombi Road, Wollombi
The proposed exact locations of the six poles can be viewed online. Council is encouraging residents to have their say on the proposed locations and do a short survey which will be open until Wednesday 23 January. More detail on the project including locations visit www.surveymonkey.com/r/bannerpoles.
