If the force runs strong in your family then grab your X-Wing and head along to Toowoomba City Library on Saturday January 12 as it is taken over by an empire of fans for the annual Star Wars Day.  But beware; Lord Vader may be lurking.

Toowoomba Regional Council Environment and Community Committee Chair Cr Geoff McDonald said there is a galaxy of opportunity for Star Wars fans.

“The force will be with you as you join in a range of Star Wars Day themed activities which include a free face painting, a scavenger hunt, cartooning classes and free foam lightsabres for the first 200 people to sign up for library cards on the day.

“The Star Wars Day is a special feature of the Toowoomba City Library’s holiday program, Cr McDonald said.

“Only on Star Wars Day will you be able to take a lightsabre class with the Sons of Obiwan Academy, share a selfie with your friends back dropped by the double sun-set of Tatooine, enter the Star Wars Spherobots maze challenge or even make Star Wars galaxy slime.

“There is something for all the family in this action-packed blockbuster day.

“Get your face painted like a Sith, enter the Star Wars themed escape room or test your knowledge in the Star Wars Trivia Competition. The stars are the limit.

According to Cr McDonald, not even a Death Star would keep him away.

“So, if you’re  local or from a galaxy far far away, head down to the Star Wars day at the Toowoomba City Library.

Cr McDonald said, “Take the advice of Yoda who would tell you to, ‘Do. Or do not. There is no try.’

The Star Wars day will be held at Toowoomba Regional Library from 9.30am to 6.00pm on Saturday 12 January.
