Offshore recreational fishing in East Gippsland is a popular and growing activity, but little is known about who participates, how much they contribute to the local economy and what’s needed to make it a better experience.
To understand the benefits offshore recreational fishing brings to the region and to plan for better facilities and services for all participants, East Gippsland Shire Council is conducting a survey to gather information.
The survey will take about 10-15 minutes and all information is confidential. If you would like to enter the draw for a chance to win a $100 voucher from BCF, you will need to provide email or telephone contact details, which will not be provided to anyone else.
The survey closes on January 25, 2019, and is available on Council’s website eastgippsland.vic.gov.au.
Council is being supported in conducted the survey by Regional Development Victoria, East Gippsland Marketing Inc and Destination Gippsland. These agencies, including VRFish and the Victorian Fisheries Authority, will form a steering committee to consider the findings. A report is expected to be released to the community in autumn.
