Children aged four and over can join the crew from Ruckus Scooters at Singleton Skatepark on Friday 11 January to learn new tricks during a scooter clinic. On Tuesday 15 January the City will host the 2019 Youth Beach Party at Bell Park on the Rockingham Beach Foreshore, with young people aged 12 to 18 years encouraged to come and enjoy live music, land based waterslides, free slushies and hamburgers.
As part of the City’s Summer Series of free, family-friendly, smoke-free and alcohol-free events, movie lovers can catch an outdoor cinema screening of Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle at Secret Harbour Surf Life Saving Club from 8pm on Friday 25 January.
Families are also invited to the City’s Australia Day Celebrations on Saturday 26 January at Churchill Park. The event begins at 5pm and will feature live entertainment, free children’s activities and a range of food vendors. The event will be capped off with a spectacular fireworks display at 8.30pm.
Throughout January children and families can also take part in the City’s Summer Parks Challenge, which gives residents the opportunity to explore the City’s parks and playgrounds, answer a checkpoint question and complete an outdoor challenge for the chance to win a prize.
Both the Aqua Jetty in Warnbro and the Rockingham Aquatic Centre are open all summer, giving families the option to cool off during the warmer weather.
City of Rockingham Mayor Barry Sammels encouraged residents to explore the range of family-friendly activities available throughout the school holidays.
"Finding things to do for the family can often be a tricky task for parents during the summer school holidays, which is why the City of Rockingham is delighted to be able to offer families across the community a fantastic range of events and activities to keep busy," Mayor Sammels said.
"Whether you prefer to head outdoors to the beach, spend some time inside testing your creative skills at one of the City’s libraries, or relax by watching an evening movie outdoors with the family, we truly have something for everyone.
"I encourage all families to head out and explore the wide range of exciting activities that are on offer throughout January."
