Residents, friends, families and visitors are invited to celebrate everything that’s great about living in Australia over two event-filled days.
Mayor Graeme Hanger OAM said Australia Day is all about our community coming together to celebrate who we are and what we are.
“It also an opportunity to welcome some of Australia’s and our community’s newest residents,” he said.
On Friday, 25 January Council is celebrating 70 years of citizenships with a ceremony to welcome new citizens to the community at BMEC. There will also be an award ceremony to recognise outstanding achievements from residents. Doors open at 5.30pm with the ceremony commencing at 6.00pm.
On Saturday, 26 January celebrations continue with a barbecue breakfast at 8.00am at Eglinton War Memorial. After breakfast cool off at the pool with free entry to the Aquatic Centre from 11.00am.
The 2019 Bathurst Australia Day ambassador is Greg Donovan who, through his successful career in endurance sports, has dedicated himself to raising funds to find a cure for Type 1 diabetes.
