Rockingham Volunteer Centre Re-opens for 2019

Located at the Rockingham Central Library, the RVC is the hub for volunteering in the City of Rockingham. 

The centre has a dual role, helping residents looking to volunteer find suitable roles within the City, as well as assisting community groups, volunteer involving organisations and sporting clubs looking for volunteers find the right people to fill their positions. Importantly, the RVC also helps promote the wide range of benefits of volunteering.  

City of Rockingham Mayor Barry Sammels said volunteering played a vital role in fostering strong connections in the community. 

"Volunteering is an important tool that builds social connectedness and strengthens the many wonderful community organisations that are in need of assistance," Mayor Sammels said.

"Not only does volunteering give you the chance to share your skills and help others, it also provides an opportunity to meet new, like-minded people, and the chance to boost your own sense of social wellbeing.  

"We are fortunate to have a large number of hard working volunteers in our City and I encourage anyone who is thinking about helping their community to become a member of the Rockingham Volunteer Centre."   

There are a number of volunteering roles available within the City in areas including administration, events, conservation and gardening, sporting clubs and emergency services. 

If your volunteering involving organisation or sporting club is looking for volunteers, the RVC will be able to assist with finding suitable volunteers, volunteer management and volunteer training opportunities. This is a free service. 

The RVC is based at the Rockingham Central Library and is open Monday to Wednesday from 9.30am–2.30pm and Thursday from 12.30pm–5.30pm. On Fridays from 9.30am–2.30pm residents can visit the RVC at its pop-up volunteer centre, which appears at different venues throughout the City.
