HomeNews Articles2019January 2019 Water restrictions tighten as dry spell continues
Saturday 12 January, 2019

The ongoing dry spell will result in a tightening of water restrictions for several communities in the Tamworth Region on Monday (14 January, 2019).

Tamworth, Moonbi and Kootingal will move to Level 1 while Manilla will move to Level 3.

Under the Tamworth Regional Council Drought Management Plan, Tamworth, Moonbi and Kootingal moves to Level 1 Water Restrictions when the level of the storage in Chaffey Dam drops to 40 per cent.

In Manilla, there is no flow in the Namoi River (the town's main water source), triggering the introduction of Level 3 Water Restrictions. The community had been on Level 2 restrictions since early December.

Residents can check which Water Restriction level applies to their home as well as the rules for each level through the Council website.
