Joining a Friends group is a great way to connect with like-minded people working together to make Bayside a better place to live.
Each group focuses on maintaining and enhancing a specific site in Bayside like a foreshore area, reserve, heathland, the community nursery, or even picking up litter on main roads.
Members are volunteers and most Friend groups participate in regular working bees at their site.
Friends of Bayside Support Officer Jill Robinson-Bird said each group not only has a unique site, they also have a story and are filled with members that have great local knowledge and history of Bayside.
“Volunteers are key to maintaining the health and vitality of Bayside bushlands and the Friends provide an avenue for connecting and contributing to our community,” she said.
“This is a great way to get to know local people, learn bushland management techniques, identify plants and their behaviours and a whole lot more.
“You will be part of successfully restoring our natural environment to what was once here, and exploring and learning about our precious bushlands in a way most others don't.”
