The Cessnock City Seniors and ‘not-so senior’ Festival is just around the corner, with a huge number exciting events on offer. Whether you are an aspiring gardener, savvy knitter or want to learn how to make a spectacular sponge cake there is something for everyone.
With dozens of FREE events happening between Wednesday 13 February and Tuesday 26 February this is a chance to get to know what clubs and activities are on offer in Cessnock local Government area all year round. The festival provides a unique opportunity to try out different community organisations, activities and meet likeminded people. It’s about making connections not just during the festival but following the festivities.
This year Cessnock’s younger seniors aged between 55 and 70 are encouraged to come along and enjoy this year’s program. Highlights include a concert with Warren Fahey, the Mamma Mia Sing-a-long movie screening, the combined choirs ‘Sing-sational’ concert and the Aqua Aerobics.
Cessnock City Mayor, Councillor Bob Pynsent is proud of this wonderful festival and what it offers residents.
“Each year Council and the Cessnock Seniors Advisory Committee work hard to offer the community opportunities to try something new, meet new people and have some fun.”
“Over the past few years the festival has really grown and twice been recognised for its achievement in community involvement, winning the Local Government NSW RH Dougherty Award for Innovation in Special Events in both 2017 and 2018.”
Thanks to the NSW Government for their continued support. Cessnock City Council received a $9000 grant towards this year’s festivities.
