The Hub welcomes residents to drop in and learn more about disaster resilience these school holidays

If you’ve ever wondered what happens behind the scenes when responding to a disaster, now’s your chance to see firsthand at The Hub in Beaman Park on Wednesday, 23 January from 9am to 3pm.
Local Disaster Coordinator David Mazzaferri said our region has seen its fair share of disasters in the last few months with the appearance of a tropical cyclone, bushfires and heavy rainfall.
“These weather events have proven that anything can happen at any time and conditions can change in an instant. That’s why it’s important to understand what our role is and how that affects your role during a disaster,” Mr Mazzaferri said.
“That’s why we’re encouraging the community to take the opportunity these school holidays to drop into the newly opened, The Hub building, to look inside and get a fully guided tour of the building and its operations.
“The event aims to help the community to better understand the risk of tsunamis, cyclones and storm surges, to better prepare residents if these disasters should occur in future.”
There are no bookings required to attend The Hub on 23 January, simply drop in between 9am to 3pm for a guided tour.
