Bushfires recovery and resilience grants

15 January 2019

The Recovery and Resilience Grants Program Round 2 is now open to bushfire affected applicants from Tathra, Vimy Ridge, Reedy Swamp, Dr George Mountain, Tanja, Kalaru, Yankees Gap, Numbugga and Brogo areas.

Initially, the Bega Valley Recovery and Resilience Grants Program was developed in response to the Tathra and District bushfire of March 2018.  Round 1 of the grants was finalised for distribution in December 2018 and will assist communities to link back into their support networks, tell their stories and build a greater sense of future safety and resilience.

Following the Yankees Gap bushfire in August/September 2018, the scope of Round 2 of the Recovery and Resilience Grants was broadened and now includes prospective applications from bushfire affected residents from those communities listed above.

Manager Community Connections, Kristina Brenner, encourages individuals and groups from the Tathra, Vimy Ridge, Reedy Swamp, Dr George Mountain, Tanja, Kalaru, Yankees Gap, Numbugga and Brogo areas to consider applying for Round 2 of the grants program.

“Even though the needs of the residents and communities in these regions are quite different, we welcome applications from all areas and really see the value in these communities approaching recovery in their own unique ways.

“Round 2 is intended to assist with activities and events that foster social cohesion, resilience and wellbeing in residents and groups within these locations,” she said.

The Round 2 grant distribution is valued at $36,973.00.  Non-incorporated groups may apply for up to $1,000 and incorporated groups may apply for up to $5,000.  Closing date for Round 2 applications is Thursday 24 January 2019.
