Visitors to Sale Botanic Gardens will notice a new sculpture and mural has been unveiled.
A germinating seed made from stainless and Corten steel rests majestically on a colourful circular mosaic, adjacent to the adventure playground.
Local artist Paul Gennings created the seed pod, while the mosaic reflecting the colours and botanical aspects of the gardens was created by Kathy Luxford-Carr.
The project was a collaboration between the Friends of Sale Botanic Gardens, who received funding from the John Leslie Foundation, and the Wellington Shire Council.
Wellington Shire Council Mayor Alan Hall said the artwork was a welcome new addition to the Sale Botanic Gardens.
“This sculpture and mural are beautiful and look right at home here at the gardens,” he said.
“The artists have used the sensory garden as inspiration for the theme, colours and patterns, which makes the artwork blend seamlessly into the gardens and looks like it’s always meant to be there.
“I congratulate the artists, the Friends of the Gardens who I believe worked very hands-on in this project, and Wellington Shire’s horticulturalists for working so collaboratively to produce this stunning addition to the Sale Botanic Gardens.
“I also thank once again the John Leslie Foundation for their contribution to this wonderful piece of public art.”
