Australia Day 2019 Launch at Wollongong Harbour
Wollongong City Council has got you covered this Australia Day with all sorts of activities, performances, rides and stalls to keep the whole family entertained.
Starting early at 8am with the annual Australia Day Aquathon, and finishing at 9pm with a spectacular firework display, Wollongong’s Australia Day 2019 is set to be bigger and better than ever.
“Australia Day is Wollongong’s biggest community celebration with more than 50, 000 people coming from across the Illawarra and Sydney to join in the fun,” said Wollongong City Lord Mayor Councillor Gordon Bradbery AM.
“This year, I’m excited to announce our musical line-up for Australia Day includes; London-born singer Pearl Noire, lead singer of the Vanns, James Vann, local band The Groove and much more.”
“Our Australia Day event isn’t just about great live music and fireworks. Check out the Ozzy Doggy Show, hire a paddleboard, bust some dance moves at the Global Dance Stage, play backyard cricket, take part in our lantern parade or even go for a joy flight in a helicopter and take in the great views of Wollongong Harbour.”
The theme for Australia Day 2019 is under the sea and attendees can expect to see giant inflatable sea creatures along the harbour.
This year our Australia Day Ambassador is Nicole Bowman. Nicole is a professional speaker, facilitator and leadership expert who proudly based her national and global career in Wollongong, where she was born and raised. See here for more information.
“To find out more, jump online and visit Council’s website or pick up a program on the day to make sure you don’t miss a thing,” said Councillor Gordon Bradbery.
Australia Day is located across four locations; Wollongong Harbour, Osborne Park, Lang Park and Flagstaff Hill.
