On Saturday 26 January 17 new Australian citizens will be welcomed at the Dalby Australia Day celebrations.

The first citizenship ceremony of the year will be one to remember when four families and another four individuals make their pledge to become Australian Citizens.

Western Downs Regional Council Mayor Paul McVeigh said there was no better time to celebrate the countries newest citizens than Australia Day.

“It’s really special to be able to welcome 17 of our newest citizens on Australia Day and to commemorate our own pledge to Australia,” he said.

“Australia Day is a celebration and there’s no better time to embrace our culture, history and traditions of our country than welcoming our new citizens from Hungary, New Zealand, Philippines, Poland and Sweden.

“This is a great opportunity for us to showcase what we love about this country and show our support to our growing community.”

The Australia Day Citizenship ceremony will take place at 11am at Thomas Jack Park Dalby.
