Council is calling on the community to take advantage of round 2 of the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) for 2018-2019.

The aim for this round is creative projects with a focus on connecting groups and creating partnerships. Priorities include partnerships, public art and visual art.

Queensland Arts Minister Leeanne Enoch said investing in creative and cultural experiences through the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) strengthened regional communities, boosted cultural tourism, and enhanced the quality of life in rural and remote towns and cities.

“RADF is a unique partnership between the Queensland Government and Charters Towers Regional Council to support local talent, unite communities and celebrate the arts across the state.

“The Queensland Government, through Arts Queensland, is contributing $2.08 million in 2018-19 in partnership with 58 councils statewide to help deliver cultural experiences which align with local priorities,” Ms Enoch said.

Councillor Graham Lohmann said Council is looking for projects that add value to the community and show innovation.

“The Queensland Government and Council want to invest in quality arts and cultural experiences, which can connect arts and non-arts groups to create a diverse audience.

“For round 2 of RADF, Council is seeking creative projects that can be the ‘piece of the puzzle’ to fill gaps and connect the community. An example of this would be art groups working with a school P&C Associations to produce murals to express relevant messages to students.

“I want to encourage the community, especially our youth, to apply for funding to bring their projects to fruition.”
