The Day on the Plain rock concert is one of the highlights of the Big Skies festival returning in May.
This year is set to be full of festival fun on the Western Downs with five of its seven major events to be held across the region.
The Western Downs community will celebrate their region with thousands of visitors at the Chinchilla Melon Festival, Big Skies, Opera at Jimbour, Tara Festival of Culture and Camel Races and Dalby’s Delicious and Delightful this year.
The Western Downs is the perfect place to live, work and play and Western Downs Regional Council Mayor Paul McVeigh is excited to share it with visitors this year.
“We’ve got so much to offer in our region and our year of festivals is the perfect opportunity to really show off what’s great about the Western Downs,” he said.
“We have lots of towns and small communities, so I think it’s really special that we can use these events as a way to show visitors how great it is here and share all of our unique experiences.
“These events will be a lot of fun for locals and will also attract a lot of people to spending time and money in our towns, so I really encourage local business owners to take advantage of that.
“I’m really looking forward to these fantastic events and sharing a piece of our home with everyone this year.”
Council is encouraging everyone to save the following dates this year:
Chinchilla Melon Festival: Thursday 14 to Sunday 17 February, Chinchilla Big Skies: Saturday 27 April to Sunday 5 May, Western Downs Opera at Jimbour: Saturday 27 July Tara Festival of Culture and Camel Races: Friday 2 to Sunday 4 August Dalby’s Delicious and Delightful: Saturday 17 August— Ends —
