Get ready to “fire up the barbie” and “whip out the snags” with Australia Day celebrations confirmed for regional townships across the Gladstone Region.
Each year Council offer funds to regional not-for-profit community groups to host a local event that complements Council’s major Australia Day celebrations which, in 2019, will be hosted at Millennium Esplanade, Tannum Sands.
The 2019 Council-supported community events are:
Builyan Many Peaks Community Development Assoc Inc
What: Australia Day breakfast, fun activities, entertainment and prizes. Where: Builyan Community Hall, 11 Pine St, Builyan When: 8am-11am
Captain Creek Community Sports & Recreation Club
What: Jam session, toad racing, kids’ face painting, Aussie tucker, and so much more. The fire brigade will also be in attendance for the children. Where: 111 Murphy Road, Captain Creek When: 1pm-4pm
Mount Larcom Ladies Bowling Club Inc
What: Barbecue and refreshments, jumping castles, face painting and barefoot bowls. Where: Mount Larcom Bowling Club, The Narrows Rd, Mount Larcom When: 10am-noon
Rosedale Rural Fire Brigade
What: Breakfast and refreshments from 7am to 9am, live entertainment, mechanical bull, billy karts, table tennis, and many more fun activities. Where: Rosedale Hotel, 2 Wills Rd, Rosedale When: 7am-9pm
South End Progress Assoc Inc
What: Barbecue and sausage sizzle, activities including volleyball, crab pot throwing competition, cricket, tug of war, jumping castles and much more. Where: Golding Park, South End, Curtis Island When: 10am-3pm
Turkey Beach Progress Assoc Inc
What: Free community breakfast and refreshments. Where: Turkey Beach Hall, Worthington Rd, Turkey Beach When: 7am-10am
Yarwun Grow Group
What: Free barbecue breakfast and refreshments. Aussie games, kids’ activities, jumping castles, sack races, face painting and family entertainment. Where: Yarwun Reserve, Yarwun When: 9am-1pm
