PUBLIC NOTICE – Quilpie Landfill

Quilpie Shire Council would like to inform the public that there have been two incidents at the Quilpie landfill involving fires over the past few weeks.

The general waste pit has been purposely set alight by unknown persons to burn off materials. Council would like to reinforce that this activity is strictly prohibited and offenders will be prosecuted.

The cost to rectify these events is significant, and as such, affects every ratepayer.

Further, the potential ramifications as a result of the breach of our licence conditions, could result in significant fines or other operational requirements imposed by the Environmental Protection  Agency that will cost ratepayers a significant amount of money.
