It's Adelaide 500 time again. This is Australia’s largest domestic motorsport event and widely regarded as one of the best touring car races in the world. There will be road closures in place during the event.
Here is a message from the General Manager of the Superloop Adelaide 500, Alistair MacDonald:
TWENTY ONE YEARS AND LOOKING FORWARD WITH SUPERLOOP.
IN 2018, THE EVENT DELIVERED AN ECONOMIC BENEFIT OF $41.94 M AND CREATED THE EQUIVALENT OF 435 FULL TIME JOBS.
The first Supercars race was held here in 1999. Since then, the Superloop Adelaide 500 has become Australia’s largest domestic motorsport event filling Adelaide’s hotels, motels and caravan parks with interstate and overseas visitors.
With these benefits come disruptions to those who live, work and commute near the precinct. As always, ourgoal is to minimise these disruptions prior to, during and after the event.
For compliance with Work, Health and Safety legislation, there will be restrictions on the movement of pedestrians and cyclists in Victoria Park during build and dismantle periods. For the 2019 event, the temporary works period has been scheduled to be completed no later than 29 April 2019.
Our time frame takes into account continued public access to the parklands, balanced against public and worker safety and other factors such as weather that may affect the project.
Please keep in mind there may be other works undertaken in the Victoria Park precinct that are not part of the Superloop Adelaide 500 temporary build.
2019 has seen our event team undertake considered assessments as we continue to review and improve our build and dismantle process.
The following improvements have been committed for the 2019 temporary works and event period:
Reduction in the build and dismantle process by one week from the 2018 event
Consolidation of the event footprint for the 2019 event, including the return of green space and Rymill Lake for public use over the event period
Change in track configuration to allow Fullarton Road to remain open without lane closures from Grant Avenue to the Britannia Roundabout, excluding peak concert egress times
Incorporation of the Pirie Street Grandstand into Grandstands within Victoria Park to reduce noise impact on businesses and residents on Hutt and Pirie Street
Relocation of the concert precinct from Christian Brothers College Oval to in front of the Heritage Grandstand in Victoria Park

On behalf of the Superloop Adelaide 500, I thank you for your understanding and support. We hope you can join us in welcoming the many interstate and international visitors we host during the event.
