Don't get left behind in the digital age and become a Tech Savvy Senior. We’re offering FREE technology workshops for local seniors at Cessnock and Kurri Kurri Libraries.
Members of the community are invited to join one of the small, friendly workshops supported by expert library staff where you can learn new skills to help you get connected and take the first step to mastering your smartphone.
These workshops will take place at the Cessnock Library on 4 February and 5 February 10am to noon and at Kurri Kurri Library on 5 February and 12 February 2019 from 9am to 11am.
The two and a half hour workshops aim to help seniors unlock the capability of their Apple, Samsung and Android smart phones.
Library Services Co-ordinator, Rose-marie Walters is encouraging local seniors to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity.
“These workshops are for people who may have a smartphone but don’t realise that it is more than just about making phone calls – it is really a computer that you hold with your hands. It is said that smart phones have more computing power than NASA used to go to the moon in the 1960s. You can run programs and games, access the internet, send email and much more. It is about teaching you that technology is not terrifying or to be avoided, but can be an incredibly useful tool when you have the skills to get the most out of your device.”
Tech Savvy Seniors is a library program developed in partnership between the NSW Government and Telstra.
