Libraries go cashless, hours extended

Three Cairns Libraries branches will be cashless from Monday 7 January.

The Babinda, Edmonton and Stratford libraries will no longer accept cash or cheques for transactions such as photocopying and printing. The change will also apply to the customer service desk located at the Babinda library.

EFTPOS and credit card transactions will continue to be accepted.

Changes to library hours will also apply from Monday 7 January.

From next week, branch opening hours will be:

Babinda – 9am-5pm Mon-Fri; 9am-noon SatGordonvale – 9am-6pm Mon-Fri; 9am-noon SatEdmonton – 9.30am-5.30pm Mon-Fri; 9am-noon SatEarlville – 9am-5.30pm Mon-Fri; 9am-noon SatManunda – 9am-5.30pm Mon-Fri; 9am-noon SatCity – 9am-6pm Mon-Fri; 9am-noon Sat-SunStratford – 9am-6pm Mon-Fri; 9am-noon SatSmithfield – 9am-6pm Mon-Fri; 9am-noon Sat

The new opening times result in a total increase of 27.5 hours of operation a week.

Council’s customer service office hours remain unchanged.
