The Water Industry Operators Association of Australia (WIOA) has generously donated $1,300 towards the Community Christmas Appeal.

WIOA representative Shane Bandiera said the organisation donated the money raised from their water interest day.

“Each year the Water Industry Operators Association of Australia (WIOA) holds a water interest day in Far North Queensland for all Councils in the region to support the Water Industry,” said Mr Bandiera.

“This year the Cassowary Coast regional Council has been nominated to choose the charity which has raised $1,300 to the Community Christmas Appeal.”

Launched in mid-November, the appeal has raised almost $3,500 to date.

Cassowary Coast Mayor John Kremastos said this year’s aim is to raise about $10,000.

“There is only about a week and a half left to donate, so let’s dig deep to lend a helping hand to those doing it tough this Christmas,” said Cr Kremastos.

Donations for the annual Community Christmas Appeal can be made in person or over the phone with a credit card up to midday on December 21, 2018.
