Moruya’s North and South Head beaches have been closed again after sharks returned to the area, potentially putting swimmers at risk.

Lifeguarding Services Australia’s Stan Wall said a couple of large sharks were sighted around Moruya’s North Head around 12.30pm by the Department of Primary Industries aerial surveillance team and by lifeguards on jet-skis.

“They were large sharks,” Mr Wall said.

“One was nearly three metres, and it came in close to shore.”

The beaches will remain closed for the rest of the day.

Lifeguards have been redeployed to other patrolled swimming beaches in the Eurobodalla.

Locals and visitors wanting to make a splash should visit Eurobodalla’s other patrolled beaches at Surf Beach, Malua Bay, South Broulee, Tuross Head, Dalmeny and Narooma.
