More ‘Hold my hand’ signs installed

Eurobodalla Council has again partnered with The Little Blue Dinosaur Foundation to remind locals and visitors about the importance of holding a child’s hand when walking on or near a road.

Council has been rolling out the ‘hold my hand’ signs at some of the shire’s busy holiday hot-spots for the past three years.

This week new signs were installed in Narooma at the corner of Ballingalla Street and Willcocks Avenue, and the corner of the Princes Highway and Riverside Drive, and on Noble Parade at the Dalmeny Campground.

The signs are provided by The Little Blue Dinosaur Foundation, which aims to educate parents/carers of the potential dangers in their children’s ‘out of normal environment’ interactions, particularly while on holidays.

It is advised adults hold the hand of children up until they are age 10, and supervise them closely until they are 12.

The Foundation was established in memory of four-year-old Tom McLaughlin, who tragically passed away in a pedestrian road accident while on a Central Coast family vacation in 2014.

Eurobodalla Council is one of 25 local government areas around Australia participating in the Foundation’s ‘It’s Holiday Time’ campaign.
