Following the success of the first round of the Renew Moree program, Moree Plains Shire Council is calling for Expressions of Interest for interested organisations and individuals to facilitate a short term installation or pop-up shop located in the corner shop of the Max Centre, Moree.
Melanie Jenson Photography was Council’s first pop-up shop as part of the Renew Moree program which is designed at giving creatives and start-ups an opportunity to test their business concept via a low commitment, reduced cost short term tenancy in one of Council’s empty shopfronts.
Ms Jenson was delighted with the experience and received many compliments from locals who were excited to see shops in the main street filled.
“I have received such positive feedback and love for this space. It seems local people are really happy to see some activity and colour and have been complimentary in every way. It’s great to be a part of brightening up our main street and giving a lift to people’s moods and spirits.”
Ms Jenson expressed that the pop-up shop has helped to raise her business profile and expand her client base.
“The whole experience has been a real confidence boost and has encouraged new business prospects for me including upcoming photography opportunities. It was definitely a worthwhile experience personally and professionally,” said Ms Jenson.
Shop 16, being the corner of the Max Centre, is now available as a pop-up shop space and Council is seeking interest from organisations for a short term Licence Agreement ranging from 30 to 90 days. The only cost to successful applicants is a refundable bond fee and minimal electricity charge for commercial businesses.
The second round of submissions is required by 5pm on 11 February 2019 and final determination will be made by the General Manager. Please review the Merit Criteria to ensure you are an eligible applicant. Contact Council on (02) 6757 3218.
