Call goes out for Youth Councillors
AlburyCity News 22 Jan 2019

Young people aged between 14 and 18 who are passionate about representing the views of young people in Albury are encouraged to nominate.

AlburyCity Mayor Kevin Mack said it was important young people get involved because it gave them a voice directly to council.

"We're looking for enthusiastic young people who want to have a say on the programs and services that impact them," he said.

"We want to make sure council is adequately planning for young people so it's really important we hear what they have to say.

"Youth Councillors play a really important role as advocates and spokespeople for their peers."

Youth Councillors will organise an annual youth forum, which determines the needs of young people. Youth Councillors also help AlburyCity develop plans and strategies that make sure young people are represented in Council's decision-making process.

Youth Councillors can be self nominated, nominated by an individual or by an organisation. There will be nine Youth Councillor Positions, with a Youth Mayor and Deputy Youth Mayor.

Nomination forms are available from AlburyCity Customer Service or online at alburycity.nsw.gov.au/youthcouncil

Nominations close on 22th February 2019.
