A series of workshops aimed at getting Liverpool workers away from their desk and being creative will open on Wednesday, January 30 at Northumberland Arcade.
Green Fix is a sustainable concept shop selling plants and repurposed goods and is supported by Liverpool City Council’s Pop Up Program. Founder Ridhika Naidoo said her workshops were a great outlet for city workers.
“Create and Make in your lunch break encourages local workers to get a dose of mindfulness and create something during their break,” Ms Naidoo said.
“Studies have shown you only need to take 15 minutes to step away from your desk to be more productive at work.
“I remember working in an office and noticing all the people that would take lunch at their desk, I would make the effort to try and go for a walk, even do origami to clear my mind so I could refocus when I’d go back - it would change my day”
Liverpool Mayor Wendy Waller said it was great to see Green Fix going from strength to strength, since the launch of the Liverpool Pop Up Program in April last year.
“Our Pop Up Program was designed to give new businesses a chance to test their ideas and bring their lively offerings to Liverpool,” Mayor Waller said.
“Ms Naidoo has brought great energy to Northumberland Street, with her beautiful shop and her workshops. She has also participated in many of our events, like Eat Your Heart Out and Christmas in the Mall.”
The launch is free and classes start at $10.
Since starting the business in April last year Ms Naidoo has held multiple lunchtime workshops including Make Your Own Macramé reusable bag and Learn to Plant Seeds.
