Campaspe Shire Council has announced a panel of 14 passionate young people in our community who will represent the shire’s youth on the 2019 Youth Advisory Group (YAG).
Mayor Cr Adrian Weston said the YAG is an opportunity for young people within the shire to have their say on matters of importance.
“Young people genuinely want to have more of a voice in their local community and the YAG will provide a direct line of communication between council and the shire’s youth,” Cr Weston said.
The YAG was formed as an outcome of the Campaspe Youth Charter, adopted by council in 2015. The charter represents council’s commitment to actively support youth citizenship, and encourage and respect young people’s ideas, opinions, talents and dreams for the future.
YAG members aged between 15 and 19 followed an application and interview process, and come from different communities and have diverse backgrounds. The 2019 YAG members are:

Council is committed to embracing the views of young people, particularly in the decision-making process. The YAG provides dedicated young people the opportunity to help shape the community in which they live by contributing ideas on a broad range of issues.
“I wish to congratulate each member of the group for their determination and desire to share ideas and their vision. With a high level of professionalism, the 2019 YAG are wonderful role models for other young people in our shire,” Cr Weston said.
