A five-year plan for the Toowoomba Region has been adopted by Council at this week's Ordinary Meeting of Council.

Mayor Paul Antonio said the 2019-2024 Corporate Plan set out the strategic vision for the organisation with performance indicators to measure progress.

“This is an important document which outlines how we plan to support a safe, healthy and engaged region,” he said.

“This is an extension on the existing Corporate Plan, which will provide direction for Council as an organisation and guide decision-making, allocation of resources and actions of Councillors and staff over the life of the Plan.

“The strategic actions identified in the Plan will form the basis of Council’s annual Operational and Financial Plans.”

Toowoomba Regional Council’s Finance and Business Strategy Committee Chair, Cr Mike Williams said the Plan had been developed through feedback received during the life of the 2014-2019 Corporate Plan, a review of existing Council policies and strategies, outcomes of a 2015 regional branding exercise and results of the 2017 Community Survey.

“We are continually reviewing our existing Plan and looking at ways we can improve,” he said.

“In addition to this, Council recently ran a number of community workshops to make sure the community’s views, desired outcomes and aspirations were included.

“Residents were also able to provide feedback in writing and this feedback has been extremely helpful in providing us with a clear understanding of what’s important to our community.”
