The opening of the new pump track at Williamstown’s Colonist Corner has reactivated the space for community use.
Old infrastructure was bulldozed to make way for a new playground and track, featuring outer and internal jumps and burms to cater for riders of all skills levels and abilities.
It comes on the back of community consultation and youth surveys which showed a preference for the existing site because of its close proximity to public toilets, drinking water and shops.
The installation of new playground equipment will create a destination play space for young people and give families more options for outdoor recreation.
Council is also working on a regionwide skate park and pump track strategy to identify and address the needs of individual communities, as part of The Big Project.
