- City of Ballarat Acting Infrastructure and Environment Director Natalie Robertson

A permit was obtained for the removal of one native tree on 14 June 2017. The tree was deemed to have inherent structural problems in the poorly formed main branch unions throughout the majority of the tree canopy. The City of Ballarat's Statutory Planning Unit is suitably resourced to ensure due attention is given to (environmental) matters of this nature. Given the application was supported by an independent arborist assessment and then assessed by both council and DEWLP, officers were comfortable the application could proceed without notification.

Council is confident the processes and legal channels available are resulting in reasonable outcomes envisaged by the koala plan
