Wollongong City Council Lifeguards will extend their beach patrol hours on Australia Day, Saturday 26 January.

Patrol hours at 10 of our 17 patrolled beaches will be increased, with flags up until 7pm at most locations and City Beach will be patrolled until 8pm on 26 January.

“We expect many visitors and community members to enjoy our beaches over the Australia Day weekend,” Council’s Recreation Services Manager Mark Bond said. “So we’ve increased patrol hours on Australia Day and we will be working with Surf Life Saving for lifesaving patrols at all 17 beaches as well.

“We also remind all people to enjoy the beach safely and to always swim between the flags. If there are no flags, do not swim.”
