Gym and fitness equipment from the Chinchilla Aquatic Centre will be gifted to the Bulldogs Rugby League Football Club this week in an official handover ceremony.

Following renovations to the gym at Chinchilla Aquatic Centre in November 2018, Western Downs Regional Council are donating six exercise machines, two bikes, two rowing machines, a treadmill, two strength units and a series of dumbbells, weights and benches to the Bulldogs Club.

Mayor Paul McVeigh said Council was proud to be supporting local sporting teams to be their best.

“We’re very proud to give the Chinchilla Bulldogs this equipment following renovations to the Aquatic Centre and we hope it will be a great benefit to the club’s training regimes,” he said.

“We’re especially proud that this is locals helping locals to play and prosper on the Western Downs.

“We know the Bulldogs Rugby League Football Club will continue to make us proud when the season kicks off this year.”

The Chinchilla Aquatic Centre gym equipment was replaced as part of the Queensland Government’s Works for Queensland program.

Chinchilla Bulldogs Rugby League Football Club President Brad Smith said the club was excited to start training with the new equipment.

“It means a lot to us and it’s good to see the community sticking together to help one another out,” he said.

“Some of our gym gear hasn’t been updated in quite a few years so the boys are really looking forward to this.”

Mayor Paul McVeigh and fellow Councillors will officially hand the gym equipment over to the Chinchilla Bulldogs Rugby League Football Club at 7:30am on Wednesday January 23 at the Chinchilla Bulldogs Park.
