Swimfit Centres across the region have extended their hours to accommodate the crowds of pool-goers keen to take a dip this summer.

Western Downs Regional Council Spokesperson for Facilities Councillor Ray Brown said that Swimfit Centres continue to be popular locations for locals looking to cool off in the hotter months.

“Since Swimfit took over management, pool attendance in Dalby more than tripled in 2018, and the Chinchilla and Wandoan pools have also had a significant increase in patronage.

“We’re really pleased to see the number of kids and adults who are taking advantage of our wonderful community facilities and spending time at these centres.”

Grant Belcher, Managing Director of the Swimfit group said that the centres offer activities for the whole community.

“The centres aren’t just for swim squads; we’ve noticed a big increase in the number of people just looking to beat the heat with a day at the pool.

“Learn-to-swim classes and the pool parties have been drawing more people to our centres.

“We’re proud that we’ve successfully made the pools family-friendly and accessible to everyone.”

The opening hours of the Dalby and Chinchilla centres have increased since the beginning of the school holidays to allow residents to take part in the activities, lessons and pool parties that the centres offer.

Dalby and Chinchilla Swimfit centres are now open from 5.30am-7pm Monday to Thursday, 5.30am6pm on Friday, 7am-6pm on Saturday and 8am-6pm on Sundays.

Jandowae, Miles and Wandoan Pools now have longer opening hours, with Learn to Swim classes at Wandoan and Jandowae starting this month.
