Just after 5pm today, Thursday 24 January, Wollongong City Council lifeguards spotted a paraglider in trouble just below Bald Hill.
The lifeguards saw the paraglider land in the sea, and responded immediately on a jet ski.
The paraglider was tangled in his parachute and the lifeguards were able to cut him free and return him to the northern end of Stanwell Park beach on a sled.
The paraglider was later transported to hospital via helicopter.
