Lithgow Library Learning Centre is conducting a membership update in a move towards the electronic delivery of Library notices to customers.
Council’s Library Management System will soon be undergoing an upgrade to allow for electronic distribution of Library notices. Traditionally, notices for overdue items and reservation availability have been sent by post. This is slow, inefficient and expensive. As a large percentage of the population now has access to email addresses, notices can now be sent far more quickly and cheaply by email and other electronic means of distribution.
“We are always looking for ways to deliver the best and most cost effective services to the community. Electronic delivery of notices brings the Library in line with the rest of Council which has the facility to deliver rate and water notices by email and helps to ensure that customers receive the best service possible,” said Acting Library Coordinator Sharon Lewis.
Library staff will be updating all customer details to ensure that the current information is correct and also adding email addresses and mobile phone numbers where available. We ask for your patience during this time as it takes just a few minutes to ensure your details are correct. For those people who do not have an email address notices can still be sent in the traditional way and we are investigating the option to send notices via SMS.
Now is also the perfect time to join the Library. Membership is free and all that is required is identification with a current address. This membership gives you access to all of the Library resources, computer use and Wi-Fi, as well as the Library’s electronic resources.
