I am pleased to present the results of the Charters Towers Region’s first Community Satisfaction Survey.

This survey measures how well Council is performing each function and service in the eyes of our residents, as well as which services are deemed as most important, and is the first of its kind conducted by Council.

As a Council we want to know how satisfied the wider community is with the job we are doing.  The undertaking of this survey highlights this.

Also given the survey aligns to the Local Government Association of Queensland’s (LGAQ) Community Satisfaction Tracking Study, it also means we can use the results to benchmark our performance against rural Councils collectively, state-wide, with very clear goals for improvement.

The survey and final report, was undertaken by an experienced external company, Market Facts Qld Pty Ltd, to ensure residents felt they could provide honest and open answers and trust the results.

Residents were selected at random by Market Facts to complete a questionnaire over the phone. On receipt of the Survey report I can say I am confident the 5 year Corporate Plan Council, introduced last year, is addressing many of the areas important to you such as water supply, roads infrastructure, economic development and our organisational processes.

Furthermore, the results show we are on par with rural Councils state-wide, with a Charters Towers Regional Council overall satisfaction score of 3.32 / 5, vs 3.33 / 5, when rated on a scale of 1 – 5 (1=Very Poor and 5 = Very Good).

Still, we will, of course continue to strive across all areas to raise the service-level bar.

Thank you to all those who took the time to participate in the survey and share your valued opinions.
