The Burdekin Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG) continues to stand up following advice from the Bureau of Meteorology that heavy rainfall is expected to continue Wednesday and Thursday, before easing on Thursday evening.
As of 5pm Tuesday, the Haughton River at Giru is at 2.625 metres and steady.
An SES crew remains on standby in Giru should residents need any assistance throughout the night. For SES assistance call 132 500.
The following local roads continue to remain closed due to recent rainfall:
Ayr Ravenswood RoadAllen RoadCromarty Creek Boat Ramp RoadKirknie Road at Alligator CreekBeachmount Road, WunjungaA request to conserve water continues to be in place for Giru and surrounding areas. The Giru Water Treatment Plant remains operational, however increased flows and turbidity in the Haughton River in the catchment negatively impact treated water production rates. Normal treated water production rates cannot be achieved until such time as turbidity levels improve following reduced flows in the Haughton River.
Residents are reminded that if it’s flooded, forget it.
