EXETER COMMUNITY HUB OPENS ITS DOORS
The Exeter community will have a new place for social events, sport and recreation thanks to the completion of a $1 million new community precinct.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development Michael McCormack said the redevelopment will improve access to the precinct, including disability access, as well as upgrades and repairs to the carpark.
“Project works included renovating the function hall, upgrading two offices and improving access to the centre, as well as upgrading change rooms for residents to use,” Mr McCormack said.
Senator for Tasmania, Jonno Duniam said the Liberal National Government’s investment will bring together many services from around the town into one central community hub.
“The opportunities that community hubs provide are essential to community economic development and helping people become more economically self-sufficient and employable,” Senator Duniam said.
West Tamar Mayor Christina Holmdahl said the upgraded precinct will breathe new life into the centre and improve facilities for existing tenants, as well as attracting further use by the local community.
“Council is pleased to offer upgraded facilities to the Exeter Community in this new centralised, fit-for-purpose hub,” Cr Holmdahl said.
The Exeter Community Precinct was a jointly funded project with the Liberal and Nationals Government committing $1 million and the West Tamar Council $320,000.
