Gladstone Regional Council has partnered with SIMS Metal Collection to provide scrap metal collection to those impacted in the Gladstone Region by the CQ Bushfires.
Gladstone Region Mayor Matt Burnett said the service will be offered for fire damaged waste only.
“Residents in the Baffle Creek/Deepwater and Mount Larcom/Ambrose areas who have fire damaged scrap metal can register through Council,” Councillor Burnett said.
“Residents will not be charged for the collection of scrap metal with SIMS coordinating the disposal program.” To ensure SIMS have all the details they need, residents wanting this service need to complete a survey with the necessary details. To register for this service Community members can visit this link, click here.
“Alternatively, community members can call Council on (07) 4970 0700 or attend any of Council’s Offices to complete the survey and fill out the collection survey,” Cr Burnett said.
“The metal that can be collected includes car bodies and building materials.
“If accessible, SIMS will be able to attend people’s residence, so waste does not need to be placed on the kerb. However, community members should be aware that SIMS will not be able to dismantle any structures to take the waste.”
