Official Media Release from the Office of Pru Goward Thursday 24 January 2019
Member for Goulburn Pru Goward today announced the main works contract for the $8 million Yass Hospital Redevelopment project has been awarded to Richard Crookes Constructions.
“This is a significant milestone in the NSW Government’s commitment to upgrade Yass Hospital as part of the $300 million State-wide Multi-Purpose Service (MPS) program of works,” Ms Goward said.
“Whilst the funding is being provided from the MPS program, Yass Hospital will not be changing to a MPS - aged care will continue to be provided by the aged care providers in Yass.”
The redevelopment will include ongoing 24-hour access to emergency care, an additional treatment bay, dedicated ambulance entry point, an increase in inpatient beds, improved community and allied health facilities and ongoing access to X-ray services.
Liberal Candidate for Goulburn, Wendy Tuckerman applauded the progression of works with expectations for construction to begin next month.
“The redevelopment project will bring community health, acute and emergency services together to provide more flexible and better service delivery.
“I’ve met with community members and with works beginning on this redevelopment many concerns and misconceptions I’ve heard will be alleviated.
“This redevelopment further adds to the extensive investment by the NSW Liberals-& Nationals across Goulburn - with $150 million now for Goulburn Health Service, and an injection of $245,000 to Crookwell District Hospital – we are seeing more spent in health than any Government before,” Ms Tuckerman said.
