Member for Goulburn, Pru Goward

Motorists will soon enjoy wider lanes and a smoother road surface on Lachlan Valley Way at the intersection of Walls Junction Road with safety improvement work ramping up this month.

Member for Goulburn Pru Goward said the $5.2 million NSW Government-funded project will provide increased safety for motorists on a one-kilometre section of Lachlan Valley Way, north of the intersection with the Hume Highway.

“The Lachlan Valley Way is a key commuter route, linking South West NSW with the Hume Highway and Canberra,” Ms Goward said.

Ms Goward said work includes widening the road, improving rough sections of the road surface, upgrading signs, improving drainage, installing guard rails and removing vegetation.

“This project is part of an ongoing program of safety improvements on Lachlan Valley Way, to provide safer and more consistent travelling conditions,” Ms Goward said.

Initial work started in early December, with major work starting this week. The project is expected to be completed by May 2019, weather permitting.

Work will be carried out between 7am and 6pm on weekdays and between 8am and 1pm on Saturday.

For the safety of motorists and workers, traffic control and a reduced speed limit of 40 km/h will be in place.

Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions and follow the direction of signs and traffic control. Roads and Maritime Services thanks motorists for their patience during this time.
