The Burdekin Local Disaster Management Group is continuing to stand up as heavy rainfall produces record river levels in the north of the Shire.
Major Creek, in the Haughton River Catchment, peaked at 12.75 metres at 8.40pm Thursday. This beats the previous record of 11.72 metres.
River levels at Giru also remain around the March 2018 flood level of 3.2 metres on Friday morning.
A major flood warning remains in place for the Haughton River.
Residents concerned about the impact of floodwaters in Ayr, Home Hill and surrounding areas can continue to collect sandbags at the Ayr and Home Hill SES depots.

Home Hill SES: Eleventh Avenue, Home Hill

The Giru Water Treatment Plant remains operational, however increased flows and turbidity in the Haughton River in the catchment negatively impact treated water production rates. Giru and surrounding area residents should restrict water usage to essential purposes only.
Residents are reminded that if it’s flooded, forget it.
