Corporate Volunteering - Expressions of Interest Sought
City of Rockingham 1 Feb 2019

Formed as part of the City’s Volunteering Strategy 2016-2022, the Corporate Volunteering Program assists local Volunteer Involving Organisations (VIOs) in delivering services to the community. Under the program the City can provide a group of up to 25 staff members to help a VIO.

The Salvation Army Rockingham were the first to benefit from the City’s Corporate Volunteering Program in December 2017, when City staff helped relocate an op-shop.

In May 2018 City employees also spent a day volunteering at the Rockingham Community Garden in Hillman and at Naragebup Environmental Centre.

More recently, residents at Silver Chain’s Rockingham Respite Cottage were visited by City staff who helped make the cottage more dementia friendly.

City of Rockingham Chief Executive Officer Michael Parker encouraged local sporting clubs, community groups and not-for profit organisations to register their interest before submissions closed.

"Corporate Volunteering has an important role to play in fostering strong and connected communities," Mr Parker said.

"Through the City’s Corporate Volunteering Program City staff are able to help VIOs deliver much needed projects or services. In turn, this assistance gives organisations more time and resources to attend to the direct needs of their clients and members.

"City staff take great satisfaction from helping the community, so I encourage all eligible groups, organisations and clubs to register an expression of interest in our Corporate Volunteering Program."
