Burdekin Local Disaster Management Group is aware of a photo circulating on social media of RoadTek machinery clearing debris from the Haughton River Bridge.
Initial clearing of the debris on the Haughton River Bridge on the Bruce Highway was undertaken today by Department of Transport and Main Roads. These works were carried out to allow resupply of foods and medicines within the flood affected areas, as well as to allow a changeover of Emergency Services.
The Haughton River is once again rising and as a result, it is anticipated the Haughton River Bridge will be inundated shortly. Consequently, it is not anticipated that Department of Transport and Main Roads will be reopening the Bruce Highway today.
